The album Quiet Music

A couple of years ago I had the great good fortune of making contact online with St Petersburg guitarist Aleksandr Loginov.  I was looking for guitarists who were interested in trying out my music; he was looking for new and attractive repertoire for performing and recording.

We established a connection immediately - he recognised something in my pieces that spoke to him; and when he started playing the music, he immediately got right to the heart of it and played my compositions just as I hear them. He is a meticulous and technically excellent guitarist, but he also has real soul, a deep musicality, and great power and expressiveness in his playing.  I hear many guitarists with good technique and accuracy, but Aleksandr brings much more to his playing: fire and conviction.

Aleksandr played a selection of the pieces in a live concert in Moscow, then on a webcast on the Russian VK social media platform that reached 40k viewers.  He then, with production from guitar composer, player, and recordist Kirill Voljanin, recorded an album under the title "Quiet Music".  Almost all the music you hear on this website is from this recording.  It's a gorgeous album that takes listeners deep into our musical world.

The album is available for streaming or download on all the major platforms - search using Aleksandr Loginov Quiet Music, or follow this link: https://ditto.fm/quiet-music-a-selection-of-works-by-a-j-williams_1ecbaef5e6

The physical CD is only distributed through my publisher, Bergmann Edition, and there's a book of sheet music that goes with it.  The two can be bought separately or together: https://bergmann-edition.com/collections/williams-andrew-1?page=2 .

Our work together continues - I send Aleksandr anything new I have composed, and I am hoping that some time soon we can record the next instalment.

Reviewer Chris Dumigan has a website called AllClassicalGuitar - well worth the time of anyone who plays guitar, because Chris brings a player and teacher's eye to a huge number of new publications including sheet music and recordings.  He published a very positive review of the album here.
