Every few months I visit a new place and stay for a month. In October 2023, it was Bruges in Belgium. While I was there I spent a couple of afternoons at the very beautiful music shop Rombaux. Benedict Minne, the fourth generation of the family that owns the shop, is a luthier who makes a small number of entirely handmade instruments a year. He's a massively talented maker and utterly dedicated to the craft. He kindly brought in two of his instruments for me to try. One was a very fine smaller guitar inspired by an 1867 Torres; the other, a real stunner, was modelled on his own early Ignacio Fleta. Be sure to visit if you're ever there.
